"L'arte della truffa": Monday 2 March 2026 on the Salieri stage
If there is one name that guarantees an evening of genuine laughter, it is Biagio Izzo. On Monday 2 March at 8:45 pm, the Neapolitan actor lands at the Teatro Salieri in Legnago â about 40 kilometres from Verona â with "L'arte della truffa" (The Art of the Scam), a brilliant comedy written by Augusto Fornari, Toni Fornari, Andrea Maia and Vincenzo Sinopoli, with direction by Augusto Fornari himself.
The story revolves around Gianmario, a respected building contractor with ties to the upper echelons of the Vatican, leading an orderly life and with a reputation built up over the years. Everything seems to be running smoothly â until he is forced to take in his brother-in-law Francesco, a professional con artist under house arrest. Gianmario barely tolerates him, fearing he could ruin his image. But when a sudden financial collapse threatens the company and everything he has built, he finds himself in a paradoxical situation: to save himself, he must rely on the very man he despises. From then on, it is a succession of improvised plans, misunderstandings and grotesque situations that keep audiences glued to their seats.
Izzo plays Gianmario with his unmistakable ability to blend fragility, cunning and clumsiness, giving life to a magnetic and immediately likeable character. At his side, a tight-knit cast: Carla Ferraro, Roberto Giordano, Ciro Pauciullo, Arduino Speranza and Adele Vitale. Fornari's direction builds a precise comic mechanism, alternating sharp punchlines with more thoughtful moments on the weight of social image and the contradictions of respectability.
You don't need to know theatre inside out to enjoy the show: "L'arte della truffa" is a comedy designed to entertain all generations, with direct, engaging humour that works equally for frequent theatregoers and occasional visitors.
Tickets can be purchased online at boxol.it or directly at the Teatro Salieri box office. The show is included in some 2025â2026 season subscriptions, including the Diamante and Gold packages.
