Discovering Morricone: a journey through cinema, music and memory

If you are in Verona on 16 March 2026 and looking for a cultural experience capable of really moving you, this is the appointment not to miss. At the Teatro Filarmonico, starting from 9:00 pm, Discovering Morricone takes the stage, an extraordinary tribute dedicated to one of the most beloved and celebrated composers in the history of music: Ennio Morricone.

Bringing his immortal melodies to the stage will be the Ensemble Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Giacomo Loprieno: an orchestra that over the years has performed on stages all over Europe — from Switzerland to Spain, from the United Kingdom to Austria — and that has collaborated with artists of the calibre of Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Robbie Williams and Sam Smith, just to name a few.

More than just a simple concert, Discovering Morricone presents itself as a narrative and emotional journey that weaves music, words and solo performances. The audience will be guided through decades of cinematic masterpieces, reliving the atmospheres of films that have entered the collective imagination around the world.

On the programme, the soundtracks of legendary films such as Once Upon a Time in the West, Cinema Paradiso, The Hateful Eight, The Mission and The Legend of 1900, alongside titles perhaps less known to the wider public but equally powerful, such as The Untouchables, Canone Inverso and Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion. There is also room for the great songs written for iconic voices such as Mina, Joan Baez, Dulce Pontes and Amii Stewart, reinterpreted in new symphonic guises.

On stage, leading soloists will alternate: cellist Federico Covre and trumpeter Stefano Benedetti, both principals of major Italian musical institutions. Special guests of the evening will be soprano Anna Delfino, much appreciated by European audiences, who will lend her voice to the touching Deborah's Theme from Once Upon a Time in America, and violinist Attila Simon, already protagonist with Cirque du Soleil, who will perform the solo of Love Affair. Weaving a thread between music and storytelling will be actor Andrea Bartolomeo, a stage presence of great international experience, able to lead the audience among characters and atmospheres with naturalness and intensity.

A worthy tribute to a giant of world music: 500 film scores, 70 million records sold, two Oscars, three Grammys, four Golden Globes and a Golden Lion speak for themselves.
