Teatro Camploy: an evening of masks, silences and humanity
On Wednesday 16 April 2026, the Teatro Camploy of Verona hosts a show out of the ordinary. At 8:45 pm, "Paradiž" takes the stage, a comedy by Matteo Spiazzi produced by the company Panoramic Banana: a work that completely renounces words to entrust itself to something more ancient and more direct, the language of the body, of masks and of silence.
It is not a conventional theatre. "Paradiž" belongs to that tradition rooted in commedia dell'arte, reinterpreted in a contemporary vein with a deep and unexpectedly tender gaze on human fragility. A show built on true stories, that does not explain, does not lead, does not comment: it simply lets every gesture, every pause, every glance speak for itself.
The story is set in a retirement home in a small Slovenian town. Within those walls, the lives of people who share isolation, memories, illness and regrets intertwine. The proximity of death becomes a particular lens through which to observe life, not gloomily, but with an unexpected sweetness that alternates melancholy and irony.
No dialogue, no explanation: the story is built through moving bodies, masks and rhythm, in a balance that allows the truth of emotions to emerge without the need for filters. It is a theatre that speaks to everyone, regardless of language or culture, precisely because it chooses to communicate through what is universal.
"Paradiž" is a contemporary fable that celebrates life by looking at it from its most extreme edge. It reminds the spectator of the value hidden in small everyday gestures, in that silent delicacy that we often no longer know how to recognise. Like sitting in an armchair and watching the world from a window, saying nothing, letting silence do its work.
A show to experience with attention and an open heart.
