A timeless classic returns to the stage for young and old alike
The Teatro Nuovo in Verona is preparing for a special day dedicated to families: on Saturday 9 May 2026, with performances at 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm, "Pinocchio Musical" will be staged, the new production signed by Compagnia Bit and Dpm Produzioni, already protagonists of the successful staging of A Christmas Carol.
On stage comes to life the most famous Italian fairy tale in the world, the one that Carlo Collodi wrote more than a century ago and that continues to move entire generations. This is not just a simple transposition of the original story, but an original, modern musical, capable of giving back to today's audience all the depth and poetry of a universal tale.
The show comes from the pen of Melina Pellicano, the project's author and director, with original music by Stefano Lori and Marco Caselle. Following the spring 2025 previews, the official 2026 tour finally brings the production to Italy's major stages, with a care for sets and costumes that promises to amaze from the very first minutes.
On stage you'll find all the iconic characters from the tale: Pinocchio and Geppetto, of course, but also Lampwick, the Fairy with Turquoise Hair, the Fire-Eater, the Talking Cricket and the whole gallery of eccentric figures that populate Collodi's novel. The show is enriched by special effects, spectacular sets and costumes meticulously crafted in every detail, for a theatrical experience that engages all the senses.
At the heart of the story, however, remains the most powerful message: that of a simple piece of wood that, thanks to the goodness of a man and the power of imagination, becomes a symbol of freedom and rebirth. A narrative that speaks to children with the lightness of a fairy tale, but that touches deep chords in adults too.
