Carosello: music, dance and irony for a journey into yesterday's Italy
On Thursday 9 April 2026, the Teatro Camploy in Verona opens its doors to a show that captures the essence of authentic Italy â the Italy of family evenings in front of the television, of memorable jingles and genuine laughter. The company Barabao Teatro brings to the stage Carosello, a lively and refined tribute to one of the most beloved television programmes in Italian history.
The appointment is at 8:45 pm at Via Cantarane, 32, in the heart of Verona.
The show stems from the desire to tell the story of Carosello not only as a television programme, but as a genuine cultural phenomenon that helped define the language and imagination of modern Italy. Already applauded at the Teatro Goldoni in Venice as the New Year's Eve 2024 show, Carosello now arrives on the Veronese stage with all its energy.
On stage, live music, dance, tap, comic gags and poetic moments intertwine, with a shifting of registers that keeps attention alive from start to finish. There is no shortage of the great names that made that era unforgettable: from Giorgio Gaber to the Quartetto Cetra, from Bice Valori to the Trio Lescano, by way of Ave Ninchi â voices and faces that left a deep mark on Italian popular culture.
Under the direction of Romina Ranzato, the show does not rely on nostalgia for its own sake, but on a contemporary reinterpretation of that myth: bringing back to life the spark of irony and wonder that once united families, turning it into a collective and participatory theatrical experience. The spectator is not just an observer: they are called to sing, laugh, feel emotion and become an integral part of the scene.
The result is a show that celebrates the creativity and lightness of Italian entertainment, where every number is a small fragment of collective memory renewed in the present. A perfect occasion, even for those who did not live through that era first-hand, to discover what made that piece of television and cultural history so special.
