"Walking with Romeo & Juliet": Sunday 8 March between history and live theatre
There is a very particular way to discover Verona, that goes neither through history books nor audio guides. On Sunday 8 March, on the occasion of International Women's Day, Casa Shakespeare presents its "Walking with Romeo & Juliet": an hour and a half of strolling through the heart of the historic centre, in which the guided tour turns into a true roving theatrical experience.
The meeting point is set at 10:00 am in Piazzetta XIV Novembre 2, in front of Hotel Aurora. From there, accompanied by a guide and the actors of Casa Shakespeare in Elizabethan costume, the route takes in some of the most evocative corners of the city: Corte del Mercato Vecchio, Piazza dei Signori, the Tribunale courtyard, Porta Leoni, Palazzo Erbisti and the Dogana d'Acqua. At each stop, historical narration weaves together with live theatrical interventions, in which Shakespearean characters find their voice and body, turning every alley and every square into a scene from the most famous drama ever set in Verona.
The route ends in the Filippini district, inside the Teatro Satiro OFF, where the final scene of Romeo and Juliet is staged: an intimate and engaging epilogue, perfect for closing an experience that is hard to forget. In case of persistent rain, the entire walk takes place inside the theatre, in the form of a show.
The experience is available in Italian and English, making it ideal also for those visiting Verona from abroad. It is pet friendly and free for children under 7 if accompanied. A format designed for everyone: families, couples, curious travellers and lovers of theatre and literature. Not surprisingly, "Walking with Romeo & Juliet" was awarded at SKAL 2024 Europe, a recognition that certifies its quality as an outstanding cultural-tourism product.
The event is part of the Shakespeare 2026 programme and the schedule of the Cultural Olympics Milano Cortina 2026. Tickets can be purchased on vivaticket.com, with promotions dedicated to International Women's Day and special rates for residents.
