12 meetings to become active citizens: the programme until 2 April 2026
If you are a young person between 16 and 30 and want to get involved for your community, Nuova Acropoli Verona has come up with something that might be just right for you. The association, together with its partners in the project "Un parco per crescere assieme", offers a free 12-session course dedicated to preparation for conscious volunteering, started on 2 February and running until 2 April 2026, at the premises in Via Redipuglia 4 (Scuole Busti, Borgo Roma).
It is not just a theoretical course as an end in itself. The path is born with a concrete goal: to train active and responsible young citizens, capable of organising social events, working in intercultural contexts and contributing effectively to the life of their neighbourhood. During the meetings, topics include the organisation of activities for children, the world of reading, theatre and storytelling, active citizenship, subsidiarity pacts, and the deeper meaning of volunteering as a commitment built on respect and solidarity.
The project is part of a wider context, supported by the Fondazione Cariverona, and involves significant local realities: Terra dei Popoli (an association of cultural mediators from over 40 countries), the music school Accademia19, the Istituto Comprensivo 10-11 of Borgo Roma and the Department of Cultures and Civilisations of the University of Verona. The unifying thread is the enhancement of the Parco di Santa Teresa, around which a social network is being built that aims to fight school dropout and educational poverty in the neighbourhood.
For those visiting Verona who have roots in volunteering or social cooperation, getting to know this reality can be an interesting way to understand how the city's associative fabric works concretely on the ground.
For information you can contact the association from Monday to Thursday between 7:00 and 9:00 pm at the premises, or at the number 380 768 9599 (phone, SMS and WhatsApp) or by email at verona@nuovaacropoli.it. Further details on nuovaacropoli.it and parcosantateresa.it.
