It lies on the Riviera degli Ulivi about 28 km from Verona (40 minutes by car, Affi exit on the A22 Brenner motorway), in a strategic position between Lazise to the south and Garda to the north. It's the ideal destination if you want to combine beach time, wine tourism and cycling: the South-East Garda cycle path runs through the town centre and links Peschiera to Garda.
Bardolino offers a very wide range of accommodation: from historic lakefront hotels (4 and 5 stars with pool, spa and gourmet restaurant, from €180 to €350 per night in high season) to boutique hotels in the old town set in 18th and 19th-century palazzi (€120–200).
On the hills behind the town, among olive groves and Bardolino DOC vineyards, you'll find many farm stays and residences with pool (€80–150), perfect for families and weekly stays with self-catering. For tent or camper travellers, the large holiday parks on the lake (Cisano, Continental, Serenella) offer pitches, bungalows and glamping with direct access to private beaches.

Bardolino cuisine combines lake and Veronese land traditions. Must-try dishes: bigoli with sardella (thick wheat spaghetti with dried lake sardines), pike in salsa served with yellow polenta, Valeggio tortellini, Bardolino risotto and the classic lake fish in carpione. Also try polenta with missoltino and fried lavarello (whitefish).
Local wines accompany every dish: Bardolino DOC (young, light, fresh red), Bardolino Chiaretto DOC (very pale rosé, excellent aperitif) and Garda DOP extra virgin olive oil used raw. Many wine bars in the centre serve platters of moraine cured meats and Monte Baldo mountain pasture cheeses.

Bardolino has held the Blue Flag for over twenty consecutive years. The two main beaches are Lido Cornicello (mixed sand and fine gravel, equipped with bar, showers and sunbed rental) and Lido Mirabello, quieter and ideal for families with small children thanks to the gently sloping seabed. The entire waterfront is pedestrianised and lit until late, with play areas, fountains and moorings for small boats.
The water at Bardolino reaches 24 °C in July and August, while from May to June and in September it's still pleasant for swimming (20–22 °C). In addition to free beaches you'll find several lido bathing clubs with outdoor pools and restaurants.
The most famous event is the Grape and Wine Festival, held in the first week of October (since 1930): five days of food and wine stalls along the waterfront, parade of allegorical floats, free concerts and fireworks over the lake. In June, the Palio del Chiaretto celebrates the local rosé with tastings in the square and regattas. In July and August, Bardolino Jazz festival and open-air cinema on the lakefront. At Christmas, themed market in the town streets.
